What we believe.

What a church believes and teaches is important. The Bible is the foundation for who Claremore First Baptist Church is. The Bible is the infallible, inspired, inerrant word of God. The Bible has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error, for its content. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

The Bible teaches us that there is only one way to heaven: faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Because everyone has sinned, everyone needs God’s only solution. Jesus is God’s perfect payment for our sin. (John 1:11-14, 3:3-21; 14:1-6; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8-10; 10:9-10,13; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-22; Revelation 3:20)

The Bible also teaches that the church is God’s idea. God began the church and sustains its existence. The church’s purpose is to glorify God and make an eternal impact on people. Here at First Baptist, we like to show people that we are willing to do whatever it takes to meet people’s needs with the attitude of Christ, locally as well as worldwide. (Matthew 16:15-19; Acts 2:41-42,47; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 5:22-32; Philippians 1:6)

The Bible also teaches that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. Single people are a vital part of the characters in the Bible. Obviously the most famous personality in the Bible was single, Jesus Christ. Marriage is the unity of one man and one woman in a covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. (Genesis 1:27; 2:19-25; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 127:3; Proverbs 5:19; Song of Songs 8:6-7; Matthew 19:4-6; Romans 1:26-27; Ephesians 5:22-33 and Hebrews 13:4.)
